Volunteer Link Up will be celebrating the difference volunteers make to their organisation and thanking them for giving their time to improve the lives of others during this year’s Volunteers’ Week, which runs from 1-7 June and as part of the Month of Community, which spans the whole of June 2022.
Volunteers at Volunteer Link Up will be celebrating along with staff and supporters on 23 June at their Summer Social to mark the occasion.
Volunteer Link Up connects people who want to help others with those in their community who need some support. The charity works with 175 volunteers and more than 985 clients across West Oxfordshire. Their volunteers make such a difference to the local community supporting others to remain independent and happier in their homes. They continue to make a significant contribution despite the difficulties and challenges of the last two years: providing transport to essential medical appointments; shopping for vulnerable people, as well as collecting prescriptions; befriending visits to isolated people; and practical tasks such as gardening and small DIY projects.
Barry Beadle, Manager at Volunteer Link Up says, ‘Volunteers play a vital role in our organisation. Volunteers’ Week and the Month of Community are great opportunities for us to say thank you and celebrate the fantastic contribution our volunteers make in the community. We’re delighted to be holding a Summer Social to thank our volunteers.’
Their Summer Social will bring people together to celebrate volunteers’ contribution and will be held on Thursday 23 June, in the evening. There will be light refreshments, a chance to meet other volunteers, and importantly the awarding of long service certificates to volunteers.
